Rental terms

These terms apply to all vehicles rented from Kuljetus Kiviniemi Oy in Rovaniemi. The Finnish version prevails in case of interpretation differences.

1.1 Parties

These terms apply between the lessor, Kuljetus Kiviniemi Oy (business ID 1039821-9, "the Rental Company"), and the lessee ("the Customer"). A car, van, motorhome or trailer is referred to below as "the vehicle".

1.2 Handover and return

The Rental Company hands the vehicle over in working order at the agreed time and place. If the Customer does not receive the vehicle due to an error by the Rental Company, they are entitled to a price reduction corresponding to the error. The Customer agrees to arrive at the agreed time and place to collect the vehicle and to return it at the end of the rental period to the Rental Company or to an agreed locked key box. A late return may be charged at €150 case by case. Keys must always be returned to staff or to the agreed locked box. If the vehicle is not returned at the end of the rental period and no extension has been agreed, a criminal report may be filed. The Rental Company may refuse handover if the Customer does not meet the requirements or cannot present a valid driving licence. Credit information may be checked before the rental; if it is not in order, a €600 deposit may be charged and refunded after the rental once all obligations are met.

1.3 Rental period

The rental period begins when the Customer receives the vehicle and ends at the agreed time. A rental day runs from 08:00 to 08:00 the following day. Invoicing is based on the reserved time and no refund is given if the vehicle is returned early. Extending the rental requires the vehicle to be available and is charged according to the price list as a new booking.

1.4 Use of the vehicle

The Customer must care for the vehicle as a careful person would care for their own and use it only for its intended purpose. The Customer undertakes to drive the vehicle themselves; if the vehicle is handed to a third party, the Customer remains responsible for it. A valid driving licence must be presented at handover. Using the vehicle for unlawful purposes, towing, competitions or their practice, driving instruction, or driving on ice outside marked ice roads is prohibited. The vehicle must always be locked when parked. The Customer must photograph or video the vehicle before and after the rental so that the front, rear and both sides are visible, and keep the images for two months. If no images exist and new damage is found, the Customer is liable for it. Smoking in the vehicle is prohibited; a €200 contractual penalty may be charged.

1.5 Transporting pets

Transporting pets without permission from the Rental Company is prohibited. A €30 surcharge is applied for pet transport to cover cleaning costs.

1.6 Customer liability and deductibles

The Customer compensates damage caused to the vehicle and its equipment during the rental period as well as costs arising from downtime, according to the cost estimate of a repair shop chosen by the Rental Company and the price list. Basic deductibles and Superturva options are listed in the table below (prices excl. VAT). For glass damage the deductible is always €200. Damage caused by negligence or misuse may be charged without a deductible cap. Intent, gross negligence, driving under the influence or another material breach may lead to full liability. Before setting off with a trailer the Customer must check the handbrake release, coupling, light plug and safety cable, that support legs are up and ramps locked; in winter also that the brakes are not frozen. Unreturned sack trucks are charged €50; if returned within 3 days, the fee is refunded within 7 days. The Customer is liable for all fines and official charges arising from use of the vehicle, and the Rental Company may pass on the Customer's details and charge a €50 handling fee. Cleaning costs for unusual soiling are charged separately.

1.7 Liability of the Rental Company

The Rental Company is not liable for delays caused by an interrupted journey. It is not liable if the vehicle was damaged or broken during a previous rental so that a new rental cannot start on time. In such cases the Rental Company aims to arrange an equivalent vehicle and informs the Customer as soon as the situation arises.

1.8 Lost property

The Rental Company is not liable for property left in the vehicle.

1.9 Refuelling

The vehicle is always returned with a full tank. Returning it with less fuel incurs the fuel cost plus a €50 penalty. The Customer is fully liable, without a cap, for damage caused by the wrong fuel.

1.10 Damage and incidents

In case of theft the Customer must contact the police immediately. In a traffic accident the Customer must always contact the Rental Company and complete a damage report; if liability is unclear or personal injury occurs, the police or emergency number must also be contacted immediately. In case of a technical fault, running out of fuel or a tyre failure, the Customer contacts the Rental Company.

1.11 Kilometres included

The rental price includes 200 km per day. Additional kilometres are charged at €0.10/km + VAT. Trailers have no kilometre limit. The fleet may be used in Finland and the other Nordic countries; taking the vehicle further abroad requires a separate permit, a Green Card and the technical part of the registration certificate, issued by staff by prior arrangement.

1.12 Payment

Payments can be made on site at pick-up or online. Bookings are made with the RowlyGO booking system and payments are processed by Visma Pay (Visma Payments Oy, business ID 2486559-4), supporting online banking, wallets such as MobilePay, cards (Visa/Mastercard), invoice and instalments.

1.13 Bookings and cancellation

Bookings are made with the booking engine on this website and a confirmation is sent by email. Cancellation is free of charge up to 7 days before the booking starts. Later cancellations are charged €25 per booking, and for multi-day rentals €25 for the first day and €15/day thereafter. Finnish law applies; disputes are settled primarily by negotiation and secondarily in the district court of the Rental Company's domicile.
